Modular Ramp, Manchester
UPS recently completed a high priority modular ramp installation within a week of assessment to meet the urgent needs of a family in Manchester.
The family were no longer able to move their son in and out of the house, so the ramp was needed urgently to allow them to enjoy precious time together outdoors. UPS and Manchester’s Service for Independent Living (MSIL) therefore pulled out all the stops to complete this job in the shortest possible timescale.
After receiving a telephone call from MSIL, our Managing Director visited the property the next day with our specialist supplier to survey the site and produce CAD drawings for the 8-metre ramp.
We started work before the grant had been processed to avoid any waiting time and decided on a modular solution to reduce the construction timescales. The ramp sections have adjustable legs that sit on the existing path or footings, which means minimal building work is required. The sections can also be easily dismantled, stored and re-configured for installation at another property.
We are extremely proud to be part of such an efficient team, making a difference to this family and many others across Manchester.
Carol Yarwood, Technical Team Manager at MSIL commented: “I would like to thank everyone for their effort in this adaptation, the family will be thrilled to be able to get Thomas in and out of the property safely and with little hassle. It’s a fabulous job, well done to all concerned. From assessment to completion in a week – not bad going at all!”
